Outreach Programs

Touching our world with compassionate hands through Faith Promise.

Mission Statement

To mirror the character and purpose of God in proclaiming His gospel to all the peoples of the world -through prayer, education, involvement, and giving by the total church.

Objective

Intercession - To encourage people to pray and fast for all efforts of world evangelizatioin.

Information - To inform people of the world's needs and what the church is doing to meet those needs.

Involvement - To challenge children, youth and adults to keep their lives available to God's will.

Investment - To raise funds for mission outreach.

What is Faith Promise?

Faith Promise is a promise to God as an act of faith to give a specific amount to missions through a plan of weekly, monthly or annual giving to fulfill that promise. All money given towards Faith Promise is used completely for World Evangelism interests.

All Faith Promise funds are above the tithe. Tithe is for the operation of our church and its obligations.

International Ministry, Bible Schools & Seminaries

We have faculty, staff and students in 6 regions around the world: Africa, Asia-Pacific, Caribbean, Eurasia, Mexico/Central America and South America.

Alabaster

"Building for the Future". Money given through the Alabaster Offering (Sept. & Feb.) is exclusively used to purchase property and buildings (churches, missionary homes, clinics, schools, etc.) on the mission field. 6000 building construction and property projects around the world totalling over $55 million. Alabaster began in 1949 and is modeled after the "love gift" given by Mary of Bethany (John 12:1-11).

VICS

Volunteers in Christian Schools: An opportunity right on our own campus in all types of services needed at our school.

Work & Witness

A lay ministry for all ages that provides opportunity to do construction, evangelism, medical work, office work, or any other type of service needed, throughout the world, on a specific field, usually within a two-week time frame.  A group of 14 went to Ethiopia in August 2000, a large group went to Madagascar in August 2001, a large group went to Nicaragua in 2003, a group went to the Yucatan Peninsula Mexico in 2004 and a group of teens went to Ensanada, Mexico in 2005.

Compassionate Ministries

Compassionate Ministries encompasses many areas for caring including:
  • money given to specific world areas where natural disasters have occurred and for child sponsorship
  • prayer support
  • hands on opportunities locally

and more.

An example of Compassionate Ministries at work: a special offering, taken for the flood victims of Mozambique, contributed to the following items

  • To date, 1,815 seed and tool kits (hoe, axe, machete), have been given with several thousand more to be distributed before the next planting season.
  • Food has been purchased or obtained for emergency distribution to villages that are not covered by present coalition of United Nations food distributors. A "Food-for-work" program will help rebuild the churches.
  • 12,000 household kits, which provide Nazarene families with immediate kitchen needs and new Shangaan Bibles, have been distributed.
  • Two teams of Mozambican Nazarenes have been trained in the technique for purifying village, wells to provide clean drinking water in rural communities. To date 60 wells have been pumped out and cleansed; we expect to do 200 in all.
  • Building materials will be purchased and distributed to about 300 Nazarenes families to help them repair or rebuild their flood damaged homes.
  • Fourteen churches will be completely rebuilt with cement blocks.
  • Four large containers of clothing and special hygiene kits have been shipped to Maputo for distribution by our Nazarene churches to their members and other needy families in the communities'
  • We have staffed teams of four doctors and four nurses over these last few months, with volunteers from Germany, India, South Africa, Swaziland and the US. These teams have provided life-saving health services to the temporary refugee camps. They have made a critical difference in the lives of many, particularly children; approximately 25% were diagnosed with malaria. Others were diagnosed with infections or worms, due to lack of sanitation, proper food and water. Donated medicine was air-lifted from Germany and the United States (thanks to American Airlines, British Airways and Lufthansa), and flown to the flood camps by two Nazarene Mission aviation airplanes and a helicopter provided by Helimissions of Switzerland.

LINKS

Loving, Interested Nazarenes, Knowing and Sharing. The LINKS program is designed to bring Nazarenes around the world together. Those who have answered the "Go Ye" and have left homeland and family to serve Christ and the church in other areas of the world, and those who have responded to the Great Commission by sending them, are linked by a chain of Prayer, Concern and Sharing. Everyone is encouraged to be in touch with our LINKS missionaries.
